It’s the kind of programme that’s going to surprise viewers.
Although Andy Barrett from Home And Away may be the role you are most familiar with, Tai Hara has a long list of other roles to his credit, the majority of which are more recent.
The celebrity has undoubtedly maintained a busy schedule in both his professional and personal lives. After announcing the pregnancy in September of this year, Tai and his wife, singer Fely Irvine, are getting ready to welcome their second child.
If Fely’s most recent Instagram posts are any indication, their two-year-old daughter Chi can’t wait to be a big sister. The couple is already proud parents.
Tai’s life has undoubtedly changed significantly over the last few years as a result of becoming a father, leaving Home And Away in 2016, and moving on to more significant roles.
All of the actor’s recent projects are collected here, including the eagerly awaited series Colin from Accounts, which you can learn more about here.
From Accounts, Colin
Most recently, Tai played James in Colin from Accounts, an upcoming romantic comedy that will be available to stream on BINGE starting on December 1, 2022.
At the world premiere event, Tai gave an interview to TV WEEK about Colin from Accounts and how he feels it fills a void in the rom-com genre.
The kind of show that will take viewers by surprise because we haven’t seen such potent Australian comedy in so long, he said, “has just some real heart to it.”
To bring a show like this to life is just such fun, he continued, “Patrick [Brammall] and Harriet [Dyer] have done such amazing jobs, respectively.
All eight episodes of Colin from Accounts will be released simultaneously beginning on December 1 on BINGE. To start streaming right away with BINGE, sign up here for a 14-day free trial.
Underbelly: Vanishing Act is the first fictionalised account of the Melissa Caddick case, in which the woman abruptly vanished in 2020 following accusations that she had embezzled more than $40 million.
Even though Tai received a significant part in Underbelly: Vanishing Act as ASIC investigator Vincent, he previously admitted to TV WEEK that his part was actually supposed to be much larger.
Tai said at the time, “Unfortunately, I was considered a close contact before my last week of shooting.” As a result, I had to distance myself from the cast and crew and rewrite some parts.
The TV show premiered in April 2022 and is now streaming on 9Now and Stan.
Blind to colour
Based on his personal experiences with casting for cinema and television, Tai co-produced the web series Colour Blind last year, which he also wrote, directed, and performed in.
The 32-year-old said to TV WEEK, “My whole motive for making the show was essentially to throw a mirror up to the business and challenge it to reconsider its commitment to diversity.
They include both my own personal experiences and those of the series’ black actors, he added. Everyone engages in these uncomfortable and awkward conversations, many of which are the result of more recent interactions.
The show generated debates on diversity, and in April of this year, Tai told TV WEEK that “the talk online was definitely fiery.”
The show premiered on November 22 of last year, and you can watch it right now on YouTube.
Away From Home
In spite of the fact that it has been six years since Tai last appeared on Summer Bay, he hasn’t ruled out playing his much-loved character Andy again.
He said, “I don’t know where Andy Barrett is now. “I have no idea if he has fled to another country or is still in Australia.”
I love everyone there like a family, so I never say never with Home And Away,” he continued.
Monday through Thursday, Channel 7 broadcasts Home And Away, which is also streamable on 7plus.
