Coronation Street star Alex Bain has announced his engagement to Mollie Lockwood.

Alex Bain, who plays Simon Barlow on the ITV soap opera Coronation Street, proposed to his girlfriend Mollie Lockwood, 19, back in October of last year but only made the news public this week. The 20-year-old claimed that before sharing their news with fans, he and his future wife wanted to enjoy it in private.

For their second anniversary, Alex proposed while they were out in Chester.

They were enjoying a passionate sunset on their balcony at the time.

That’s when I just asked her, he admitted. If I don’t do it now, my anxiety will only increase, I reasoned.

I had a good feeling she would say yes, but I kept failing.

Mollie stated that she had a “tiny inkling” that he was going to carry out the plan in their joint interview with OK! Magazine.

She continued, “We wanted to enjoy that special time together, just the two of us, for a while,” a year after the event.

Alex continued by saying he was incapable of living his life with anyone else.

When she was enrolling in a performing arts college in the North West in October 2019, the two first met.

Since Mollie had never watched Coronation Street, she claimed she had no idea who he was when they first met.

Alex added that Mollie had at first thought he was an extra in the soap opera.

“I was really glad she didn’t know,” he continued. “It was a big thing for me that Mollie liked me for who I am, and not for the fame.”

The actor continued, “We’re open to having kids together, but we want to move in together first,”

He has a four-year-old daughter from a previous relationship, so he is already a father.

The actor has said in the past that his daughter and his work on the cobblestones were what got him through his “dark times” in life.

“I would have been lost if I hadn’t stayed with the job I’m in now,” he claimed.

The Sun quoted him as saying, “Corrie has kept me going and especially having a daughter has kept me going – it gives me something to do.

In 2008, Alex started portraying Simon Barlow.

He referred to his 13 years on the soap as “an incredible journey.”

“I’m just so fortunate to have had all these years to work on Simon, to develop his character, and to really hone my craft. I’m so grateful to have worked with so many incredibly talented people “He went on.
