Who’s that?

Alfie Moon makes a surpise guest appearance in this week’s episodes of EastEnders.

After three years away, Shane Richie is reprising his role as Kat’s ex-husband Alfie, it was announced last week.

Despite saying that Alfie’s homecoming episodes would broadcast in the fall, EastEnders executives urged viewers to watch for an on-screen hint in the coming days.

As it turns out, Alfie makes a surprise appearance in Tuesday’s episode (July 12), which can already be seen on BBC iPlayer, during a FaceTime call with his son Tommy.

Following the most recent reunion between Kat and Phil, Tommy will decide to get in touch with his estranged father.

Before this, Tommy had not spoken to Alfie since he left the Square at the beginning of 2019 and turned against Phil.

Alfie said enthusiastically to Tommy over the phone, “This makes me so pleased, what a treat.” “I’ve been considering you a lot lately. I constantly consider you, Bert, and Ernie. Your presence never leaves my mind.

Unfortunately, it was evident that deeds speak louder than words as Alfie became increasingly preoccupied during the call, failing to deliver for Tommy.

After that, a defeated Tommy turned to Phil and asked if he could start referring to him as his father.

This was ultimately agreed upon despite Kat’s initial objections, perhaps opening the way for some inevitable conflict when Alfie returns to Walford later in the year.

On his return as Alfie, Shane commented, “It’s an amazing honour and joy to be asked back to my TV home of Albert Square.”

“I’m eager to reconnect with some former cast members and make new friends. Who am I to object when the new executive producer Chris Clenshaw wants to bring back Alfie Moon with some fantastic storylines? I am impatient.

“Welcoming him back to Walford is an amazing delight,” Clenshaw continued. Shane Richie developed one of the most recognisable, endearing, and memorable characters in soap opera history.

There have been many events since Alfie left the Square, but wherever his floral shirts go, you can count on laughter, games, and the occasional porky-pie. We are ecstatic to have him home.

As a result of this week’s schedule changes brought on by live coverage of the women’s Euro 2022 football competition, all of this week’s episodes of EastEnders, from Monday, July 11 to Thursday, July 14, are now accessible to watch online before to broadcast on BBC One and BBC Two.
