Ellie Dadd has been cast in the role previously played by Amy Mitchell on EastEnders.
Amy has been represented over the years by five different actresses, with Abbie Burke taking up the role as of 2014.
But now Ellie Dadd has taken over, and on Tuesday, August 9, her first scenes will appear.
‘The recast choice is one that happens often with actors playing youngsters growing older on soaps, as more adult storylines come into play,’ an EastEnders insider told www.yzee.uk
Amy has some important stories coming up, and the decision had nothing to do with Abbie, who is adored by the EastEnders cast and crew.
‘It is not uncommon in continuing drama to recast young performers when children take on more difficult adult storylines,’ a soap opera representative continued. Abbie has our warmest wishes for the future.
In upcoming moments, Amy plays a significant role since she develops feelings for Denzel Danes, who just moved into the Square last week.
The two form a strong rapport almost away, with Amy eager to win over the newcomer. However, when Davinder, sometimes known as Nugget, shows up, things become more complicated, and both he and Denzel ultimately make Amy unhappy.
Amy tells Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) about her experience, and she doesn’t waste any time confronting the two lads and demanding an apology from them for what they did.
Ellie’s first scenes as Amy are currently available on BBC iPlayer.
This summer, EastEnders’ normal broadcast schedule was thrown off by sports, therefore it was decided to give viewers the option of watching episodes of the BBC One soap online before they were broadcast.
