Home and Away cops now – $57m mansion, X Factor fame and drink-driving charge

Since the show’s debut, Home and Away has seen a number of resident police officers come and leave. But what happened to the recognisable officers when they left Summer Bay?

Since the first episode of Home and Away aired in 1988, a number of legendary characters have been added to the series, leaving a deep impression on fans.

And over the years, Summer Bay has seen a number of resident police officers come and go, occupying positions in the Yabbie Creek police station to apprehend some of the show’s most deadly villains.

Being the town’s police officer is undoubtedly challenging, and some characters have perished tragically despite holding a renowned position.

While Nicholas Cartwright and Kirsty Marillier play Cash Newman and Rose Delaney, respectively, as the show’s current police officers, Daily Star has investigated what happened to some of the other recognisable cops when they left Summer Bay.

Baker, Peter (Nicholas Bishop)

In 2004, Nicholas Bishop, an Australian actor of English descent, debuted as Detective Peter Baker.

Peter moved to the city to begin a new life with Amanda Vale after a rollercoaster three years as the Bay’s token police officer. (Holly Brisley).

After leaving Home and Away, Nic, a Swindon native, went on to star in a number of TV shows, including NCIS: Los Angeles, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and ABC’s Castle.

In addition, the 49-year-old had many movie appearances, notably in Woodlawn (2015) and The Lears, a comedy-drama from 2017.

Nic is most recognised for his performance as Peter Dunlop on the ABC medical programme Body of Proof, which predates his time on the Australian serial opera.

He appeared in three episodes of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow in 2021, which was the year of his most recent on-screen appearances.

After a covert 10-year marriage during which they had two children, Ava and Harrison, Nic and Claire Smith divorced in 2016.

He got engaged to Jess Macallan, a co-star on Legends of Tomorrow, in 2021.

Chuck Buckton (Esther Anderson)

After three years in the soap opera, Esther Anderson decided to leave the character of Sergeant Charlie Buckton in order to advance her acting career.

Charlie may have met one of the most tragic ends when, on her last day in uniform, she was shot twice as she got ready to flee with Daryl “Brax” Braxton. (Steve Peacock).

After her ventilator was turned off, Charlie passed away, but two years later, while Brax was unconscious, she made an appearance as a ghost.
