After a 17-year absence, viewers are delighted after the soap brought back a fan favourite, but it is also causing worry for many people, who are concerned for the stars
Home and Away fans are thrilled by a change-up on the soap after 17 years, but some are now fearing for the cast members.
It was announced that the show is bringing back their old title sequence, with their classic theme tune and characters featured in short clips around Summer Bay.
It brought back a lot of nostalgia for viewers who grew up watching the soap and missed the longer introduction opening sequence with the original Home and Away theme song lyrics.
Viewers couldn’t understand why it took so long for it to return, but were adamant that they didn’t want it to go again.
One person said: “This gives me chills! I love this for them.”
A second commenter shared: “Those stock opening credits weren’t doing it for me. Why did it take 17 years to get back to this?”
A third fan wrote: “Really good to hear/see this for sure. Only ever heard the instrumental and ‘end of chorus’ versions at the start since I started watching in 2013. Would be even better if the other version gets this treatment too”.
With another viewer adding: “Just read that the #HomeandAway theme tune is coming back and girly I couldn’t be more thrilled.”
The main part of the new title sequence that people are loving the most is the iconic shots of the characters, from Tane Parata to Roo Stewart.
One person wrote: “I’ve missed seeing the characters sitting on that amazing beach gazing out to the sea deep in thought!
A second commenter shared: “Ekkkk! Brilliant to see all the characters back. Missed seeing the cheesy bits of them staring off into space!!!”
However, having the characters back in the title sequence has worried some fans of Home and Away.
They voiced their concerns that actors might be leaving soon as some of the show’s couples were shot separately, making it easier to edit them out when they depart.
One person said: “I have mixed feels. Opening titles need updating when cast members leave to stop them getting out of date.”
A second viewer shared: “Also, Leah/Justin and Mac/Levi have been filmed as couples. But other couples (like Remi/Bree) have been filmed separately. To cut them out later??”
A third commenter theorised: “I don’t think i want any couples to be filmed together, it feels kinda spoilery. Like they’re not anticipating any breakups”
A fourth fan added: “It’s very possible with 3 year contracts for some about to come to an end. Also. If they coupled up all the couples, the credits would be rather short”.
