Ziggy is having trouble adjusting.
Ziggy Astoni and Dean Thompson of Home and Away welcomed their daughter into the world on Tuesday, and viewers in Australia witnessed the event (January 31).
Their happiness, though, might not last long because a recent promo trailer hinted at an upsetting plot that the new parents will experience.
The video, which was made public on the soap’s Instagram page, depicts Ziggy battling with postpartum depression as she tries to acclimatise to motherhood.
You really think I can do this? the new mother asks Irene as she approaches her baby’s cot to ask for assistance.
Another photo appears to show Ziggy gone as Dean is seen frantically looking for her while holding their infant in his arms.
One viewer praised the programme for tackling such a serious subject: “Oh, how it hurts. Postpartum really exists.”
Some fans believe that this might be the start of Sophie Dillman (who plays Ziggy) and Patrick O’Connor (who plays Deanleaving )’s plot since they recorded their final Home and Away scenes in July/August of last year.
In the Instagram comments on the preview clip, someone wrote: “I think Ziggy and Dean are going to go away and live with Ziggy’s parents,” to which another fan replied: “I think so too.”
