As Justin’s court date approaches this week on Home and Away in Australia, Theo’s evidence only makes matters worse. Can Alf come to the rescue and save the day?
This week marks the beginning of Justin’s (James Stewart) court appearance after his arrest and accusation of assault resulting in serious bodily harm.
Justin attacked visiting surfer Conor (Tom Dawson) viciously three weeks prior, believing that Conor had assaulted Ava, his daughter. (Annabel Wolfe). Ava got into Conor’s kombi van after arguing with Theo (Matt Evans), who she had developed feelings for.
While Conor was a gentlemanly gentleman, Ava later texted Theo, expecting he would be her knight in shining armor, alleging that she was being detained against her will.
She didn’t anticipate Theo passing the information to Justin, who later found Conor’s van and beat him in front of numerous witnesses—including the police.
David (Tony Cogin), Justin’s attorney, has advised Justin and Leah (Ada Nicodemou) to be ready for the worst because the prosecution is aiming for the longest possible prison sentence.
Theo and Leah have been worried that Justin has already given up even though he has taken the advice to heart and is making all the required preparations for his business.
Ava had wanted to stay in Summer Bay to tell the court what really happened because she was terrified that she would lose her father. However, Justin and Leah persuaded her to go back to the city because they reasoned that Justin wouldn’t be able to focus on the case if he was worried about his 16-year-old daughter.
It has a significant impact on the entire family, said James, 47, to TV Week. “Ava had never witnessed her father’s loss of control.
He alarmed Leah and Theo in addition to frightening her. That’s not the Justin that Leah fell in love with, and that’s understandable.
Observing what was happening, Alf (Ray Meagher) pulled Theo aside and told him that Justin needed to fight if he wanted to go to court with that attitude. Alf should know because he has served time in jail and prison.
Alf went back to the house with Theo in an attempt to reason with Justin, but Justin countered that he was following his lawyer’s instructions. He shouldn’t be wasting his time while he attempts to work through things if Alf and Theo truly intended to help him.
It appears that Justin is ready for what he perceives to be his impending jail this week.
James continued, “He doesn’t want to go to jail, but is ready to.”
David tells Theo that his evidence is essential to Justin’s case as he is about to take the stand, which puts Theo under a lot of strain.
Theo is called in, and Leah reminds him to “remember what David said.” Simply maintain your composure and speak the truth.
Theo finds this advise to be unhelpful and worries that it will only hurt Justin’s case.
As he leaves the courtroom, a distraught Theo confesses to Leah and Roo (Georgie Parker), “I stuffed it up.” “I mentioned Ava had a history of lying… that Justin ought to have known better than to heed her cries for assistance… I apologise.
Leah starts to lose it because she thinks Justin is going to die. Justin advises that David take the stand himself since he feels as though he has no other choice, but David is aware of the dangers. Justin’s entire case will disintegrate if he displays any signs of rage while being questioned.
Alf suddenly offers to serve as a character witness just as they seem to have no other recourse.
Alf tells the court in a moving statement, “He’s always there for my family, myself, the whole community really when things are tough.”
But will it be sufficient to persuade them?
It’s a tense evening in the Morgan home as the court retires to consider its decision.
Leah confesses to Theo, “I don’t have a good feeling about this. I simply want to be a strong person for Justin.
She receives assurance from Theo that he will always be there for her.
That night in bed, Justin apologises to Leah for putting her through this ordeal and declares his love for her.
Justin receives a phone call on what appears to be the next morning summoning him back to the courthouse, so it appears that the court doesn’t take too long to make their verdict.
Justin tells Theo that he’ll always be proud of him in what may be a tearful farewell.
To learn his fate, Justin heads back. Is he going to prison right away?
