Bree’s (Juliet Godwin) increased self-assurance has made Remi (Adam Rowland) happy lately. As a result of Jacob (Alex Williams) being forbidden from getting in touch with Bree, they have now been able to be more open about their relationship, and Remi is beginning to feel optimistic about the future.
He subsequently learns from Theo (Matt Evans) and Kirby (Angelina Thomson) that a “blonde man” has been on the lookout for him, which is worrisome news.
Remi quickly makes the connection that Jacob has returned to the Bay despite the AVO being active against him. Also, Bree is currently alone in her hotel room, and Jacob would look there first… Remi cautions Kirby and Theo to contact the police if they see the blonde man again. Suddenly, to to their confusion, he takes off on a jet.
Remi rushes to the motel room in an effort to save Bree, but he realises it’s too late as he barges in. Jacob is holding Bree while her abusive husband orders Remi to have a seat. Remi agrees, but as soon as he realises he’s in danger, Jacob quickly attaches him to the object.
The couple is subsequently confronted with a series of inquiries regarding their relationship from a furious Jacob. He tells them he has every right to depart with his wife, intentionally omitting the fact that Bree doesn’t want to go and that there is an AVO filed against him. But, when Bree and Remi’s love for one another becomes apparent, Jacob feels helpless and becomes aggressive.
He pulls out a hammer and uses it to break Remi’s bound hand. For Bree’s sake, Remi attempts to hide his suffering, but he is in excruciating pain.
Jacob then delivers a horrifying ultimatum: either Bree departs with him right away, or Remi receives his just desserts. Bree completes her packing and gets ready to depart after realising what she needs to do. She does succeed in getting Remi some medication before she leaves, but it doesn’t really help.
Remi is left alone in the motel room, bound to a chair with a broken hand and barely conscious. He is fading quickly and no one knows where he is. Will he be discovered before it is too late?
