Lynne’s 70th birthday party was attended by the former X Factor contestant.
Johnny Ruffo, who starred in Home and Away, is renowned for his extraordinarily close relationship with current soap opera star Lynne McGranger, who portrays Irene Roberts. Even though Johnny is battling terminal brain cancer, he has continued to create meaningful memories with his loved ones.
Recently, the two got back together to celebrate Lynne’s 70th birthday, and Johnny wrote a touching Instagram post in honour of his “best friend.”
He tweeted, “Happiest of birthdays to one of my greatest friends @lynnemcgranger you’re like a beautiful wine,” beside a snap of the two smiling near a balloon display.
Several former cast members of Home and Away, including Dan Ewing (Heath Braxton), Sarah Roberts (Willow Harris), and Ada Nicodemou liked the post (Leah Patterson).
In a comment on the article, Lynne expressed her happiness at seeing Johnny and his date Tahnee Sims at her party. She wrote, “Let’s catch up soon,” followed by some happy emojis.
The former co-stars’ reunion thrilled fans, who clamoured for Johnny to make a comeback.
“I hope you come back sometime. One person commented, “Miss your character.
Another person said, “Your connection is so beautiful.
A third person added, “I’m so glad you both found fantastic friendships in each other, love you both.”
This comes after the celebrity expressed his desire to visit Summer Bay to Yahoo Lifestyle.
The star appeared onscreen alongside other well-known performers like Demi Harman, Samara Weaving, and Kassandra Clementi as Maddy Osborne (Sasha Bezel). Five years ago, the celebrity learned he had a brain tumour, but he was pronounced cancer-free in 2019. Sadly, his disease came back, and the X Factor contestant said in August 2022 that it was terminal.
He has been fighting his health issues with a positive attitude, though, and he recently told Yahoo Lifestyle that he hopes to one day make a cameo on the serial opera.
I would like returning to Home and Away so that I could spend more time with Irene. I had a terrific relationship with Lynne on [the show] and we still do now that Home and Away is over,” he remarked.
Johnny receives frequent “darling” comments from Lynne on his Instagram posts, as well as supportive words while he fights cancer.
In terms of how he envisions his on-screen persona returning to the soap opera, he wants to “simply show up” at the Pier Diner.
Just walk in and order a coffee, like, without telling anyone. And Lynne, er, Irene, would say, “Chris!” He chuckled.
