For more over five years, they were the show’s most beloved characters.
On the eve of their final appearance in Summer Bay, Sophie Dillman, 29, and Patrick O’Connor, 30, exchanged a heartfelt farewell with viewers on Thursday.
During an appearance on The Morning Show, the real-life pair, who portrayed the long-running soap’s sweethearts Dean and Ziggy, acknowledged their devoted viewers.
Larry questioned the well-known couple, who were appearing via video link from London and are currently travelling throughout Europe, if they had any parting words for their fans.
A visibly moved Sophie said, “I’m going to try not to cry,” before Patrick exclaimed, “Oh, my God!”
We just wanted to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who helped Dean and Ziggy, Sophie said.
We have the best job in the world, but we can only do what we do because of the viewers of the show.
We appreciated the support the entire time, and Patrick expressed his gratitude for it all.
Kylie Gillies of The Morning Show slyly contradicted Sophie’s prior assertion.
She added, “You had the finest job in the world,” which had the joyful pair in fits of laughter.
Also, they discussed the emotional toll that ending the show had on them.
According to Patrick, the final month of filming and the final week were very challenging.
That was really heartbreaking as we said our last goodbyes, he said.
Sarah and Robert stated in another discussion that they had no imminent intentions to go back to work.
They recently finished a tour of Ireland and Scotland where they were frequently recognised by their U.K. fans, and they currently have plans to do more travelling.
That happens shortly after the couple explained why they left Home and Away.
