Next week, on UK television, Ziggy Astoni visits her 12-week prenatal scan and receives a surprise.
Recently, Ziggy and Dean Thompson learned that they are expecting a child together. While Dean already has a young son, Jai, with his ex-girlfriend Amber Simmons, this is Ziggy’s first child.
Dean eagerly anticipates the 12-week scan in the Channel 5 shows airing the following week.
Dean views this as a turning point in their journey because Ziggy has consistently stated that she doesn’t want to share their wonderful news until she has attended the crucial appointment.
When Dean learns that Ziggy cancelled the scan without notifying him, he gets more than he bargained for.
In an effort to learn more, he contacts Ziggy, but she doesn’t pick up. Dean begins to worry that perhaps something negative occurred.
Finally, a composed Ziggy appears, assuring Dean that everything is great and suggesting that they go for a stroll so she can explain.
Ziggy and Dean have a heart-to-heart, and Ziggy admits that she has no particular cause to be concerned; she’s just afraid to find out that the kid might have a problem.
Although Dean is sympathetic, he persuades Ziggy that going to the scan is preferable to postponing it.
Later that week, when they go to the hospital, Ziggy and Dean lie about having the wrong appointment date.
A staff member accommodates the couple’s request for an ultrasound out of compassion.
While Ziggy and Dean are thrilled to see their healthy baby on the screen, they are equally astounded to learn that the pregnancy is significantly further advanced than they had first anticipated.
Instead of 12, Ziggy is informed that she is 18 weeks pregnant. They are overjoyed to learn that their baby will be arriving earlier than anticipated.
When Dean gets home, he phones Jai to announce that he will become a big brother. Justin Morgan and John Palmer, who are ecstatic for them, are also informed by Dean and Ziggy.
