Days before securing a role on the popular US series Pretty Little Liars, Tammin Sursok has admitted she called her husband and informed him that she was going to “quit acting.”

The 39-year-old Australian actress, who is of South African descent, first rose to fame as Dani Sutherland on Home & Away before leaving the Australian soap opera in 2004 to pursue roles in the US.

In addition, Tammin was having trouble getting a long-term role despite having successful stints on Hannah Montana and The Young and the Restless.

She admitted to being extremely anxious during her audition for the part of Spencer, the main character, which was ultimately played by Troian Bellisario, to Yahoo Lifestyle.

I believed it to be the worst audition I had ever had.

After that audition, I called my husband and announced that I was giving up acting.

The fact that they praised the audition “proves that you have no idea about what you’re feeling compared to what you’re showing,” she continued.

She was asked to return to read for Jenna, a blind adolescent at odds with the main characters of the show, even though she didn’t get the part of Spencer.

With a premiere of 2.47 million viewers and a seven-year run, the programme was a huge hit.

Since the conclusion of the popular teen drama from 2010, the star has continued to pursue acting.

She recently showed off her ‘baby bump’ as she’s set to play a pregnant woman in an upcoming project.

In footage shared to the social media platform, Tammin is seen stroking her prosthetic belly in a maroon top, blue jeans and a long white cardigan.

‘Look at the baby, look at the baby,’ she’s heard saying.

Tammin was tight lipped about the title of the movie, but revealed it was a thriller set to air on a streaming platform in the New Year.

‘The channel that it’s on, that it’s gonna be on streaming, is a channel that I’ve wanted to be on such a long time, and it’s on my vision board,’ she added.
