Dillman acknowledged that leaving was a “very huge decision,” but said it also marked the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.

We’re kind of entering a new period, like the filthy thirties, I think, when we kind of (decided to leave after) just over five years, Dillman said on The Morning Show.

Naturally, the decision was somewhat sad for us, but we are optimistic about the coming phase.

During recording the final episode, the pair agreed they were “quite upset the whole day”, with Dillman joking that it was, in reality, “the whole month” leading up to the final time the director yelled “Cut”.

Everyone is aware that your final days are approaching, and after five years, we’ve had such solid relationships with many individuals there, so it was quite touching, she added.

“That was pretty heartbreaking as we said our last goodbyes.”

“I believe that was incredibly hard, but that’s the best way to go,” O’Connor concurred.

Dillman said that she wished to “try not to cry” when asked for a parting message.

She continued, fighting back tears, “We just wanted to say a really massive thank you to everyone who supported Ziggy and Dean.

We have the best job in the world, and we can only do what we do because of the viewers of the show.

So, we experienced support every step of the process and are incredibly appreciative of everything.

O’Connor claimed that one of his first actions after leaving the scene was to dye his naturally dark hair blond.

He said, “I pretty much did it right immediately,” describing his desire for a change.

Dillman, whose hair was strawberry blonde, claimed that it took her longer to make the adjustment.

The couple jokes that they are having their gap year in their 30s even though they recently moved to the UK and want to explore first.

Actually, we’re travelling to Italy tomorrow morning. We’re as close to this side of the world as we can be, so there’s a little bit of a quick weekend trip,” O’Connor said.

The road journey around Scotland and Ireland that Dillman and O’Connor had already taken was described as “nothing short of absolutely spectacular” by both of them.

Due to the huge fan base in the region, they claimed that while on tour, they were frequently stopped by Home and Away supporters.
