Emmerdale star Danny Miller wanted special reunion with former flame for 50th anniversary

The Emmerdale actor Danny Miller has revealed that he would like to see Robert Sugden, who played his character Aaron Dingle’s ex-boyfriend, return to the ITV soap opera in upcoming scenes.

This month, as Emmerdale celebrates its 50th anniversary, Danny Miller’s Aaron Dingle, a legendary character from the soap opera, will make a comeback. Aaron returns to make amends with his family in tense scenes as they come together following Faith Dingle’s (Sally Dexter) cancer diagnosis. The family is shocked when he returns and learns about Chas Dingle’s (Lucy Parteger) affair with Al Chapman (Michael Wildman). When Danny opened up about his return, he said that the one thing he was most looking forward to was Robert Sugden’s appearance.

Prior to appearing on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, where he later won and was crowned King of the Castle, Danny initially left the show last year.

Since then, he has been spending some time with his wife Steph and their young son Albert.

As he arrived at his second home, Danny disclosed that he had originally intended to celebrate the show’s anniversary with his former co-star Ryan Hawley.

But he acknowledged that although Ryan’s return with him would have been “nice,” it wasn’t possible because the character Robert is still serving time for Luke Posner (Max Parker).

“[Executive producer] Jane Hudson and the team mentioned there was going to be a lot action-packed stuff for the 50th, which there is, but I was on vacation at the time and I kind of imagined there’d be some crazy action thing just to really step outside – that it would be some action-packed thing where maybe Aaron could turn up and kidnap Robert out of prison,” the star remarked.

“I was actually discussing it with Ryan [Hawley], but it was just foolish talk! But no, it would have been really nice to have him back, but he said it’s almost certainly impossible.

Danny said that despite the challenges, there is “always a way and a means” to bring characters back together in the soap opera.

Danny added that despite the famous couple’s 2018 breakup, he continues to be questioned about it whenever he is out in public.

Recently, we discussed on-screen couples on a podcast in relation to this topic. Although I don’t think the term “icons” is appropriate, I’m at a loss for words.

“People still tell me that Robert and Aaron’s relationship changed some people, as it was modeled by so many people out there.

“When people ask you in the street, “How’s Robert? ” or “Where’s Robert? ” is a question I was always going to get.

However, he continued, “They were a fantastic soap couple, and it was nice to be a part of and share it with Ryan.

Danny, who is making a brief comeback to the soap opera, will witness Aaron being arrested when he pursues Terry, the evil sidekick of Sandra Flaherty (Joanne Mitchell), who is attempting to exact revenge on Liv Dingle (Isobel Steele).

If Aaron is demoted, could this be a way for ITV executives to bring Robert back into the plot?

Even though his return to the village may only be temporary, the start of the intense week of drama is sure to be stormy.

Along with Aaron’s return, Diane Sugden (Elizabeth Estensen) also wants to see Faith again after learning about her diagnosis.

“Diane enjoys catching up with residents of the village, but she has returned specifically to visit Faith, with whom she once had a close friendship. Elizabeth gave Metro.co.uk an explanation.

Tracy Metcalfe, played by Amy Walsh, also makes a brief appearance as she upends Nate Robinson’s (Jurell Carter) world.

“Tracy experiences a lot in a short period of time. When she sees Nate, it’s not as simple to tell him what she has to say as she might have thought.

“It’s been a long time coming, but she and Vanessa get to spend some quality time together too.”
