Following Maddy Hill’s departure from the BBC serial after resuming her role as Nancy Carter last spring, another actor has left EastEnders.
As a character is expected to leave Walford in this week’s episodes, EastEnders has apparently lost another cast member.
Tanya Franks, who plays the character of Rainie Cross in the BBC soap opera, has reportedly departed Albert Square with her infant son Roland because she has left the show after four years, according to The Sun.
The character of Rainie is separated from her kid after her husband Stuart abandoned the child while secretly struggling with postpartum depression, leaving the infant with surrogate Bernie.
As Bernie grew weary of looking after the infant, she gave Rainie an ultimatum because Rainie was heartbroken by the move.
Despite Mitch’s postpartum sadness, Rainie realised she was correct and became furious at him for Stuart’s conduct.
Stuart advised her to accept Bernie’s offer and go, leaving him to provide Roland with the house and lifestyle he deserved.
However, Stuart failed to show up, so Rainie boarded a taxi with Roland and her belongings to depart Walford while Callum, Violet, Bernie, and Mitch stood around her waiting.
This comes after Maddy Hill, who plays Nancy Carter on EastEnders, had her last scenes for the soap opera air last week after she made the decision to leave Walford.
Prior to becoming engaged and relocating to New Zealand, the character had departed EastEnders in 2016 to travel with then-boyfriend Tamwar Masood.
However, after rejoining the BBC soap as Mick and Linda’s daughter after nearly five years away, actress Maddy made the decision to leave the show once more.
It’s been nice going back to Nancy and the Square over the past year, but it felt like the appropriate time to move on for now, Maddy said as her final scenes on the serial aired.
I’m already missing everyone and am incredibly appreciative of my coworkers.
A spokesman for EastEnders in the meantime expressed their best wishes for Maddy’s future.
Maddy is one of several soap opera performers leaving Walford this year; after four years as the Stuart Highway actor Ricky Champ, Tanya will also leave the BBC soap opera.
Dayle Hudson, who has portrayed Ian Beale’s son Peter since 2020, will join him.
Along with Kelsey Calladine-Smith, who played Jada Lennox, actress Barbara Smith played Dana Monroe.
