Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin) has assimilated well into Emmerdale life, becoming a fixture in the community as the local vicar.

His life began quietly, but the drama quickly escalated when we learned more about Charles’ past with Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker), who lived with Charles and Ethan (Emile John) under a false name.

Charles’ future in the Dales appeared to be with Andrea at first, but when Meena (Paige Sandhu) got in the way and murdered her, Charles reconnected with Manpreet.

Reuniting with Manpreet has not been easy, as Charles has had to deal with Meena’s vengeance, and his partner is now at odds with Naomi (Karene Peter), Charles’ distant daughter.

As the tense dynamic continues, Kevin Mathurin has wondered what the future holds for his character and whether or not he can avoid Manpreet.

‘Can you imagine?’ Kevin laughed as he discussed the possibility of Charles having an affair with Inside Soap Magazine.

‘He’ll exact his revenge and flee to Marbella!’ Is it possible for Charles to have an affair? It has to be someone completely unexpected!’

We briefly mentioned the tension between Naomi and Manpreet, and the difficult relationships are something Charles will begin to experience as Naomi takes full advantage of her father’s desire to get to know her.

Charles is attempting to make up for lost time, and Naomi has him wrapped around her little finger,’ Kevin adds.

‘He puts up with a lot of abuse from her, and then something happens that disrupts his relationship with a parishioner in the village. Charles ends up jeopardizing his job for Naomi, his daughter, despite the fact that he doesn’t really know her. It’s going to be a disaster!’

Despite only being on the show for a little over a year, Kevin frequently runs into ardent fans, with many believing that black culture is well-represented in the village.

‘As I walk around London, I never imagined that middle-aged black men would approach me and tell me how much they love the show and how black culture is represented in the village.’ The number of selfies I’ve had to take in my neighborhood Aldi!

‘It’s wonderful that everyone is happy, and that Charles and Ethan are role models.’
