Well, the wedding in Emmerdale between Marlon (Mark Charnock) and Rhona (Zoe Henry) was flawless, wasn’t it?
A soap opera wedding was always going to have some drama, but tonight’s drama for Marlon and Rhona was far more grounded in reality than the typical ditching at the alter, fleeing, or actually turning out to be some type of killer.
Marlon’s continued hospitalization and the knowledge that time was running out were the main concerns before the wedding.
Although they were both equally worked out, Paddy (Dominic Brunt) set himself the task of trying to calm Marlon down in order to lower his blood pressure.
Kind thoughts only, please!
Rhona noticed that her friends and relatives were muttering a lot as the group gathered in the church, so she knew something wasn’t quite right.
When Paddy and Marlon came, Chas (Lucy Pargeter) rose up and prepared to tell Rhona.
Phew!
It was breathtaking when Marlon got up and walked down the aisle. As Marlon drew closer, Rhona extended her hand as a sign that they would always be there for one another.
It was time to celebrate after being married.
After Paddy’s lengthy speech in the pub, Marlon stepped up to the mic and felt thoughtful.
In the recent months, Marlon’s life has seen a total transformation. He previously confided in his loved ones that he wasn’t sure he would survive in the immediate aftermath of his stroke.
He grinned as he looked at Rhona, ecstatic that she was by his side and that he was alive and making progress.
The residents were singing and dancing to the music; it was a joyful occasion made even more affecting when Priya (Fiona Wade) followed Marlon’s and her plan to stand up, remove her jacket, and dance with Eric (Chris Chittell), her scars on her back on display, but she didn’t seem to mind.
The perfect way to finish a wedding was how Marlon and Rhona’s did it. They decided to go home together because they don’t enjoy staying out into the wee hours.
Marlon and Rhona clutched each other indoors while listening to music and imagining themselves dancing on a dance floor. But this? It got better after that.
