Summer Bay without Alf Stewart is like a beach without sand.
Home and Away fans are living in grave fear that something bad could happen to a Summer Bay icon after a dramatic promo teased a health scare for Alf Stewart, everyone’s father figure. Home and Away without Alf? It’s like hot chips without chicken salt. Life wouldn’t be worth living.
While it’s not really a surprise Alf will suffer the odd health scare from time to time given he’s been on the show for 150 years (OK, since 1988) it’s the fact that Dr Bree Cameron will be left in charge of saving his life – and right now, trust is low with the beautiful Summer Bay doc.
Lately, Bree has been acting extremely erratic which is exactly what you do not want in a doctor. Since Felicity Newman’s shock death from an aneurysm, Bree has been slowly spiralling out more, working long shifts, making strange calls, and barely sleeping. Absolute recipe for disaster when it comes to saving lives.
Home and Away fans shocked at new promo: ‘I will riot’
For some reason, despite the fact Alf looks like he’s having a heart attack in the new promo, cardiothoracic surgeon Levi is nowhere to be seen and Bree seems stuck in a state of freeze in hospital while Alf struggles. Again, not what you want from a doctor.
“Alf’s life is in Bree’s hands…” the teaser said, sending Home and Away fans into a state of panic.
“Noooooo Alf can literally never ever die!! Save our Mr Stewart!!” one person commented on Instagram. “What the heck, Bree? Do something, get another doctor in,” another person stressed.
“ALF IS EVERYONE’S FATHER IN THE BAY, WE NEED HIM!” someone else yelled. “If he dies because of her, I will riot,” one fan threatened.
Fans are set to never forgive Bree if something happens to Alf.
“If anything happens to him, I’ll be blaming Bree… She’s not in the right head space to be a doctor right now,” someone (rightfully) pointed out.
“They better not kill Alf off. I will boycott the show if they do. Alf is to Home and Away like the sand is to the beach. Must always exist!” another person stated.

However, it’s likely fans don’t really have anything too extreme to worry about. Sure, we just lost Felicity so it’s very unlikely they’re about to kill off another fan favourite and absolute Summer Bay staple, but as one fan pointed out, Ray Meagher who plays Alf ain’t going anywhere.
“He just signed a 5-year contract, he’s fine,” they said.
Phew. We can rest easy for now. But not you Alf, don’t rest too easy now big fella.
