Despite only leaving the Australian soap opera Home and Away in May of this year, Lukas Radovich, who played Ryder Jackson, is already teasing new projects on social media!
On Instagram, he wrote, “Making movie magic.” “Pay attention here!”
Then, in a subsequent post, he added:
“These images give me such joy.
“It is truly unique to have the opportunity to collaborate with some of my favorite people (respectively @harismirza27 & @smartlett) on a project that is entirely our OWN.
In the coming months, there will be a lot to share.
When his character kisses Ty Anderson, the foster child of Marilyn and John, it marks the first LGBTQ+ plotline in the soap opera in almost a decade. Lukas played Ryder, Alf Stewart’s grandson, starting in 2017.
In an interview with Digital Spy at the time, Lukas said, “I was really excited to be part of a new storyline – something that hasn’t been done before, and something that I could explore with a TV show which is so a part of Australian culture.
Even though Lukas was in his mid-20s and his character was a teenager who was still in school, he could still relate to him.
Despite the character being a little younger, Lukas said, “I can still easily relate to that point in my life, and it’s been a lot of fun revisiting those years.”
Additionally, he discussed his plans after leaving the soap opera, saying:
“I believe I’d love to write and star in my own projects, as well as collaborate with people I adore.
“Since both of my brothers reside in London, I believe that my post-Home and Away plan will involve traveling there in order to look for employment.
“Because I think the TV and film that is being produced there is really incredible.
So, he continued, “I’d love to be a part of that.”
After five years on the soap, Lukas made the decision to leave. He said his goodbyes onscreen in May and on Instagram as his final episodes aired.
“What a thrilling ride. On his social media account, Lukas announced his resignation. “I can’t really express how the last five years have felt or affected my life, so I’ll keep it short,” he wrote.
I’ll miss my job, but I’ll miss the people more than anything.
Lukas also rejoiced that he could invite his parents and his boyfriend of three years, Australian men’s netball player Liam, to the celebration. In his final appearances on the show, Forcadilla.
It warms my heart to see my parents and @liamforcadilla in my final episodes as extras,” he wrote.
Lukas has been squeezing in trips to England, Scotland, and Fiji with Liam since the end of Home and Away.
However, Lukas has stated that he hasn’t entirely abandoned Home and Away.
He told Digital Spy, “The door is always open and I’m very grateful for that, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.”
“In the upcoming two years, anything could occur.
We’ll always leave the door open, but for the time being, I’m eager to find out what comes next for me.
