“I cried probably every day for the last month of work.”
Sophie Dillman, a star of Home and Away, has spoken candidly about what it was like to shoot her final scenes in Summer Bay, admitting that she sobbed frequently while working.
Along with her real-life partner Patrick O’Connor, the Ziggy Astoni actress has been discussing her impending exit from the show this week (Dean Thompson).
I won’t lie: It was incredibly difficult, Dillman admitted to Yahoo Lifestyle. “I think I sobbed during the last month of work every day. Such a large family they are.
It was quite difficult. That was also incredibly great because you could see it from a different perspective and fully appreciate all the fantastic opportunities you’ve had.
Dillman said that she had developed deep bonds with the rest of the cast as she thought back on her time on the soap opera and her connections with co-stars.
Everyone is so humble, she remarked, even if it’s cliche to say. “Everyone is working towards the same objective and wants everyone to be successful. And I doubt that I’ll ever work somewhere where that exists again.
After months of rumours about their future, Dillman and her partner Patrick O’Connor startled audiences last week when they announced they would be leaving the soap opera.
The two actors first appeared together as Dean Thompson and Ziggy Astoni in 2017 and 2018, respectively. Their on-screen romance later developed into a real-life relationship.
The couple previously discussed their intention to leave the soap opera, adding that they both thought their roles had been fully developed.
That requires a significant amount of my time and commitment. Throughout the time we were there, I felt like I transformed into six different people. Both as a performer and a person, there has been significant growth. Although it’s a fantastic place to work, O’Connor told TV Week that she was prepared to move on.
The emotional plotline appears to be opening the door for Ziggy and Dean to leave Summer Bay as they prepare to become parents.
