After his grandfather Lionel Ryan passed away peacefully on September 6, former Home and Away star Jake Ryan posted a touching tribute to him yesterday (September 7).
With a selection of adorable pictures, Ryan celebrated “the king of the Ryan clan.” He posted them on Instagram.
Photographs of a colorfully attired Lionel, images of the two, and images of Lionel with his grandchildren, including Jake’s son Wolf, whom he shares with fiancée Alice Quiddington, were all included in the collection.
“This one hurts and I’ve been dreading this day for a while,” Ryan wrote in the caption. Last night, Pop, Red, Redbull, the patriarch of the Ryan family, peacefully passed away in his sleep.
Ryan continued, “Can’t even begin to comprehend the magnitude of this loss just yet. He was “The Ryan family,” and his absence has left a very sizable gap. Those who were familiar with him will know what I mean. I apologize to those who never had the chance to speak with him or have a conversation. Already miss you a lot, Pop. Rest assured that Aaron is watching over you up there, and you can relax. XXX”
Ryan, who starred in Home and Away for three years, received encouragement from his former co-stars in the post’s comments section. Actress Penny McNamee of Tori Morgan wrote: “I love you so much, Jakey. Xxx.”
Jasmine, Ryan’s on-screen spouse, was portrayed by Sam Frost “sending love Jakey,” while Jackson Heywood, who plays Brody Morgan, wrote: “Big love mate. My condolences on your loss.”
Ryan played the famously and dramatically killed Ryan Shaw in the January 2020 season premiere of Home and Away, which he starred in from 2017 to 2020.
Ryan left the program to pursue movie roles.
