In EastEnders, Lewis Butler’s (Aidan O’Callaghan) life is in danger after Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) pointed a gun at his head and threatened to pull the trigger.

As viewers are aware, the former bartender raped Ben (Max Bowden) earlier this year in gruesome scenes before fleeing the Square.

Meanwhile, Sam (Kim Medcalf) is on a mission to make amends with Phil after her decision to sell drugs at Peggy’s resulted in Ben nearly dying from an overdose, and she believed the only way to do so was to find Ben’s rapist.

Lewis was apprehended by Zack Hudson (James Farrar) and later delivered to Sam, who delighted in relaying her plan to Phil. Phil, on the other hand, was taken aback, given that he had promised Ben that he would stay away from it.

Things took a turn for the worse when Lewis escaped captivity and stole Phil’s gun, and he later kidnapped both Phil and Sam. Phil, out of options, tackled the rapist to the ground, where he pummeled him mercilessly before pointing a gun at his head.

‘Lewis is absolutely panicking,’ actor Aidan O’Callaghan said of the tense scenes, according to yzee.co.uk. ‘Adrenaline is coursing through his veins.

‘He wants to get that gun out of his face.’ Phil is terrifying, he’s on top of him, and Lewis is pleading and pleading, doing everything he can to get out of that situation.

‘He’s trying everything to avoid being shot.’ He’s never been in a situation like this before, so he’s completely freaked out!’

It’s been an intense week for the BBC One soap, with plenty of twists and turns along the way, and Aidan told us he was ‘delighted’ to hear the storyline would unfold in this way.

‘It was a whirlwind of emotions!’ he exclaimed. ‘When I first heard about the story, I thought to myself, ‘Man, this is so exciting! Being able to collaborate with such iconic characters on such an iconic show.”

‘You go through a rollercoaster of emotions: excitement from working with Steve [McFadden], Max [Bowden], and Kim [Medcalf], but also potential sadness from wondering if this is the last week or episode.’

‘You tap into such heightened emotions as an actor, and it’s really rewarding to be given that space to go there with such interesting writing.’ It’s been incredible.’

The latest episode of the serial drama ended on a cliffhanger, with Ben arriving to stop his father from killing Lewis before declaring that he would do it himself.

The question is whether he will follow through. Will Lewis perish? All you have to do is tune in to find out.
