Where is Coronation Street filmed?

The soap was shot on an indoor set at Granada Studios for its initial 1960 airing. Then, in 1968, an outdoor set was added, and over the years, Corrie was filmed on a set in Manchester’s Quay Street, which was inaugurated by The Queen in 1982.

Since 2013, MediaCity UK in Salford, Manchester has served as the location for Coronation Street filming. At the time, the Rovers Return pub gained two upstairs windows as a result of the set makeover. In order to make it easier for cars to pass, the streets were also widened.

On the new set, 11,000 cobbles were also placed, and for authenticity, they were artificially weathered.

2018 saw the construction of Victoria Gardens, the tram stop, and the funeral home. After several years of the Weatherfield building only being alluded to on-screen, Corrie announced the addition of a brand-new precinct to the set earlier this year.

Fans could visit the soap opera’s former set on Quay Street until 2015. But since this was later destroyed, you can now arrange tours to see the current set. The tour, which is only offered on weekends, lasts 90 minutes and takes visitors through Victoria Gardens, Rosamund Street, and Coronation Street.

On the walking tour of the live production set, a guide will be with you, and you can even get your picture taken outside the Rovers! You can also recognize Roy’s Rolls, The Kabin, and Dev Alahan’s Prima Doner by their exterior sets.

Bring your most comfortable shoes because you’ll learn filming techniques as you stroll down those renowned cobblestones!

The Horror-Nation Street tour in October will center on the murderous past of Corrie’s most evil figures. Halloween decorations, trick-or-treating, special mood lighting, and a fresh script are all included.
