After it was recently revealed that young Kelly Neelan would be leaving CORONATION STREET, Millie Gibson spoke about her forthcoming departure from the serial opera.
The troubled teen has established himself as a fan favorite in the ITV soap opera, and actress Millie has taken on some significant storylines while portraying the teenager in Coronation Street. Fans were disappointed to learn Kelly will soon be leaving Weatherfield, but there has already been talk regarding her exit storyline. It was recently reported that the character would be leaving the soap opera. In a recent message on social media, Millie acknowledged the significant transformation and thanked her followers.
The 18-year-old finally spoke up about Kelly’s departure on Saturday by sharing a statement on Instagram Stories.
I’ve had the most wonderful four years, she added, “Now that the news is out about me quitting the cobbles.”
She honored her character and the support of her followers by posting a photo of herself dressed as Kelly alongside the caption.
Growing up here, she formed lifelong friendships, gained a lot of knowledge, and expressed gratitude for the time she had and the storylines she had been given.
“I can’t thank @coronationstreet enough for having me be a small part of this lovely family, and I can’t wait for you guys to see the upcoming episodes,” the actor said.
“Kelly Neelan will always have a special place in my heart.”
She closed by using a love emoji and said, “Thank you to you all for being so supportive.”
Three years ago, Millie made her ITV soap opera debut.
Kelly has experienced some tragic circumstances since joining the cobbles.
She was recently orphaned, faced homelessness, was involved in a murder trial, and was later abducted.
The 18-year-old is reportedly saying goodbye in a “explosive” plotline later this year.
The British Soap Award for Best Young Performer went to Millie earlier this year, and she has since gained followers for her heartbreaking performances.
As Kelly’s departure nears, many are speculating about how she might be leaving.
Kelly was just saved by Gary Windass (played by Mikey North), who had been a dubious contact of her late father, Rick Neelan (Greg Wood).
Kelly is currently unaware that Gary actually killed the dangerous Rick years ago in self-defense.
Since then, Kelly has lost her mother Laura Neelan (Kel Allen), and she has turned to Gary for comfort as she copes with her loss.
She didn’t get to say goodbye to her mother though because of a hatred she had against Laura for killing her father, which the latter admitted to doing on her deathbed in order to keep Gary out of jail.
It’s likely that the youngster will learn Gary’s sinister secrets, which could lead to a confrontation.
Finding Gary’s activities intolerable, Kelly might take severe measures and put herself in jeopardy once more.
Fans of soap operas will have to wait to see how the unfortunate teen’s situation plays out.
